English & Maths Confidence 6-9 years: At-Home Tutoring

Montessori Academic Development Programme Ages 6–9

Between the ages of 6 and 9, academic gaps begin to affect confidence more deeply.

Children may start to:

  • Avoid reading aloud

  • Rush written work

  • Guess in maths rather than reason

  • Say “I can’t do it” before attempting

Often the issue is not ability, but clarity.

English & Maths Confidence is a structured one-to-one Montessori programme designed to consolidate foundations, strengthen reasoning and rebuild academic self-belief.

This is not surface-level tutoring.
It is developmental repair and progression.

The Montessori 6–9 Framework

In Montessori education, the 6–9 stage focuses on:

  • Logical reasoning

  • Abstract thinking built on concrete foundations

  • Moral development and self-evaluation

  • Independence in learning

Children at this stage require structure, intellectual challenge and clarity.

Sessions integrate Montessori materials where appropriate to reconnect abstract work to concrete understanding.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Literacy Development

  • Reading fluency and expressive reading

  • Comprehension through guided analysis

  • Grammar awareness and sentence structure

  • Spelling through pattern recognition

  • Paragraph construction and written clarity

Mathematical Development

  • Place value security

  • Multiplication and division understanding

  • Fraction foundations

  • Problem solving through structured reasoning

  • Word problems broken down logically

Where gaps exist, we revisit concrete materials to strengthen conceptual understanding before returning to written abstraction.

Control of Error and Independence

Children are encouraged to identify and correct errors through guided questioning and material design. This builds resilience and reduces fear of making mistakes.

The aim is not perfection.

The aim is secure understanding.

Individualised Within Structure

Sessions follow a mapped curriculum pathway aligned with both Montessori principles and National Curriculum expectations.

Your child’s interests may shape reading material, writing prompts or mathematical scenarios, ensuring engagement remains high while academic rigour is preserved.

Individualised and Interest-Led Within Structure

Sessions follow a sequenced academic pathway. However, engagement is enhanced by integrating your child’s interests into reading passages, writing prompts and mathematical contexts where appropriate.

This maintains motivation without compromising rigour.

Alignment with National Curriculum

For children in mainstream or independent settings, sessions reinforce and extend National Curriculum objectives while addressing foundational gaps.

Progress is intentional, not reactive.

What Parents Receive

Tuition is not limited to the hour your child spends in session.

Families receive structured insight into their child’s progress through a secure online platform designed to make development visible and measurable.

Weekly Photo Observations

After sessions, you receive photo-based observations showing your child working with specific materials or tasks. Each observation outlines:

  • The activity presented

  • The academic or developmental objective

  • How your child approached the work

  • Next steps in progression

Clear Developmental Status

Each activity is tracked within a structured Montessori curriculum pathway. You will be able to see whether your child has:

  • Been introduced to a concept

  • Is exploring the activity

  • Is practising and strengthening understanding

  • Is secure and working independently

This provides clarity around true mastery rather than surface familiarity.

Four-Week Overview

Families receive a concise 4-week overview summarising:

  • Areas introduced

  • Skills being strengthened

  • Emerging patterns

  • Recommended focus for the following cycle

This ensures you always understand where your child stands developmentally.

Three-Month Development Report (Continuation Plan)

For families enrolled in the 3-month development cycle, a detailed written report is provided at the end of each cycle outlining:

  • Progress made

  • Skills consolidated

  • Areas requiring further reinforcement

  • Recommendations for continued development

Access to Curriculum Pathway

Your child’s learning is mapped against a structured Montessori curriculum covering literacy, numeracy and personal development.

This ensures sessions are not reactive, but sequenced and intentional.

Ongoing Communication

Where appropriate, brief post-session discussions are available. Parents are also welcome to raise questions between sessions regarding reinforcement at home.

Session Structure

Introductory Session
£60

A calm and purposeful introduction.

This session allows your child to meet me, explore materials and begin building trust. There are no formal tests. Observation is gentle and professional, focused on developmental readiness and learning approach.

If you choose to continue within 48 hours, the £60 fee is deducted from your first package.

Flexible Plan

4 weekly sessions – £340
8 weekly sessions – £640 (Includes written progress report)

Continuation Plan

4 weekly sessions per month – £300
3-month development cycle

Includes monthly activity summaries and a detailed written report at the end of each cycle.

Consistency is strongly recommended. School readiness develops through steady, structured repetition and reinforcement.

Location, Travel & Parking

Sessions available within 5 miles of SE19.

Travel beyond this radius incurs a travel fee confirmed at enquiry.
